As the coordinator for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Education Program, known as SNAP-Ed, part of my role was overseeing five summer camps throughout Cook County and Suburbia; two located in Cicero, one in Maywood, one in Richton Park and Harvey. The overall goal was to reach a minimum of 125 youth during the summer.
My expectations for every youth were to learn how to prepare healthier meals and snacks through hands-on cooking experiences.
At the end of the program, kids would receive a Certificate of Completion and their very own personalized cookbook.
