Adobe Illustrator
A few weeks ago I asked my classmates asking for any suggestions on an APP or software for me to look into as I must work on sketching a picture for a project. Nevertheless, I looked into a few, and I came across Adobe Illustrator, which is relatively new to me. Although it is free, there is a cost to use the extra features. As a university employee, I was able to download it for free (some of the perks we receive). The tutorials allow you to explore just about every different tool this software is equipped with. A few videos to mention Setting up a New Document, Using the Selection Tools, Essential of the Pen and Pencil Tools, 5 Tips for Drawing an Illustrator, 10 Things Beginners Want to Know How To Do, Create Custom Brushes in Illustrator CS6.
Adobe Illustrator is a graphic design software, and as a first user, of course, there are tutorial videos for each step. I will be honest; am barely in the second video. Moving forward, this software will get you started with Creative Cloud which I find very convenient as it saves your files immediately and that you may access from any device. It is a very sophisticated software (especially for me) as it has these excellent drawing tools and the brush tools look so real! I think that once I get more acquainted with the program, I may sketch some of my old pictures.
Also, the software includes an Online Community that has numerous pictures and designs that you may borrow, allowing you to recreate any image or design but you may also start from scratch. Anyhow, as mentioned earlier, I am assisting two educators who will be rolling out a PBL workshop this summer. I will admit, I am not sure how they will be utilizing the sketch I am working on and so I supposed I should ask soon. But now that I think of it wouldn’t this be a copyright issue?
Please see pictures below. I included the original and my sketch. The signs and wording will change but the message along the lines of the road to PBL.
As for my use, I have a few ideas on incorporating this software in the areas of architecture and art which will provide tools needed in professional design and artwork. I am pretty sure math could be integrated while working on measurements. I thought about coding as well, but as mentioned, I am barely getting familiar with the software.
